ChildrenPlease note that children’s energy, movement and presence are welcome in the sanctuary during worship. There are activity bags and sheets available for children to use during worship. Do not hesitate to move with your child(ren) in and out of the sanctuary if needed during the worship service. Movement is good.

Programs for kids: Worship with your child(ren) on Sunday mornings. Experience worship with your kids. Let’s have all ages worship when we gather. Just give it a try.  A community of children, youth and adults meet Wednesday nights

A Staffed Nursery is available for children ages 0 – 5. Let the volunteer staff know if you have any special concerns, questions or needs. FLC’s goal is to provide the safest, most enjoyable experience possible for your children. Please do not hesitate to give feedback so that the nursery can continually improve.

Holy CommunionAll are welcome regardless of their religious affiliation. In addition to the bread and wine, gluten-free wafers and alcohol-free white grape juice are available.

Coffee. Feel free to bring a cup of joe into the sanctuary during worship to help you with your energy, movement and presence.

Recommended Parking: Off-street parking and the Lodi Primary School parking lot directly across the street from First Lutheran Church are where most people park for worship. There is a paved parking lot in the back of the building, however, it enters on a lower level requiring multiple vertical steps. (7:00 a.m. Chapel Worship parking is in the church lot.)

Recommended Worship Entrance for Sundays, 8:00 & 10:00 a.m. and Wednesdays, 7:30 p.m.: The main entrance for worship is under the carport directly across the street of the Lodi Primary School parking lot and playground. People with limited mobility may be dropped off at the main worship entrance located under the carport. Valet parking available upon request. (Entrance for 7:00 a.m. Chapel Worship is at Christenson Hall.)

What to Wear: Casual and comfortable. FLC does not have a dress code so some folks come in their Sunday’s best, others come in jeans. Most are somewhere in between. It’s you’re call.

The Point of the Sermon: Proclamation of God’s good news, forgiveness of sins, and hope for you and the world will always be the core of preaching at FLC. So will the prophetic word of challenge:

A church that doesn’t provoke any crises, a gospel that doesn’t unsettle, a word of God that doesn’t get under anyone’s skin, a word of God that doesn’t touch the real sin of the society in which it is being proclaimed–what gospel is that? Very nice, pious considerations that don’t bother anyone, that’s the way many would like preaching to be. Those preachers who avoid every thorny matter so as not to be harassed, so as not to have conflicts and difficulties, do not light up the world they live in.  (A Gospel that Unsettles, Oscar Romero)
