God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46.1

For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken.
On God rests my deliverance and my honour;
my mighty rock, my refuge is in God.
Trust in him at all times, O people;
pour out your heart before him;
God is a refuge for us.  Psalm 62.5-8

“And Mary said,
‘My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…” Luke 1.46-47a.

“My starting point [for prayer as part of spiritual guidance] is that we’re already there. We cannot attain the presence of God. We’re already totally in the presence of God. What’s absent is awareness.” (Rohr, Richard. Everything belongs. New York: Crossroad, 1999. p. 28)

“The beginning of love is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves, the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image.”
― Thomas Merton, The Way of Chuang Tzu
